Old business

An annual “state of the Voice” discussion led by Bob Harris who shared the formation of the NMCV, and Herb Gerhardt who spoke of how the hospital district formation evolved out of an NMCV committee.

New business

Mary Swoboda volunteered to coordinate a Candidates’ Forum on June 25. The Primary Election is August 7th and ballots will be mailed to registered voters on July 20th, so the June meeting is the only opportunity available.
Mary proposed inviting candidates of two races to participate: Mason County Commissioner District 1 and 35th District State Representative Position 2).
After some discussion it was decided to include the 6th Congressional District—US Representative race.
Mary proposed that each group would have approximately one-half hour for candidate introductions and questions, with the forum starting about 7:00 PM and ending about 8:30 PM, with an additional half-hour afterward for socializing and having one-on-one conversations with the candidates.
Mary proposed to send email invitations to the candidates informing them of the forum as soon as possible.

Judy Scott made a motion to sponsor a forum on June 25, with Mary as the key point of contact. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.

Mary Swoboda asked the membership to consider buying a portable Public Address (PA) system for NMCV. She found a couple that were priced near $130. During the discussion, it was suggested the PA system come with two microphones.

Judy Scott made a motion to authorize up to $200 expenditure on a portable PA system. The motion was seconded and passed by the NMCV membership.

For the Good of the Order

Judy Scott said a book has been published on the history of the Washington Ports and is available for purchase at the Port of Allyn.

Denny Hamilton encouraged everyone to take the online survey for Parks and Recreation. Find the survey here: http://www.co.mason.wa.us/parks/index.php

The next meeting will be June 25, which will be a candidates’ forum.

Meeting adjourned at 7:34 PM.
