The business meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by Greg Waggett, with a quorum of the Board present.
The Pledge of Allegiance was said. Afterward, everyone introduced themselves.
Secretary's Report Lee Swoboda
Approval of February 27 meeting minutes.
Judy moved to approve the minutes, as distributed via email. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Treasurer's Report - Jack Kimball
All bills are paid and there is $1,735.71 in the bank account.

Public Information Officer (PIO) Report Randy Neatherlin
Moratorium on new construction in Belfair Urban Growth Area (UGA) is still in place.
Cost total of the Belfair sewer system is still in question.
The county has formed an advisory board comprised of residents of the Belfair UGA only.
Phase 1 of SR 3 widening through Belfair is the only funding approved by the Legislature.
More cuts are being proposed for the Mason County Sheriffs Office.

Old business/New business
Discussion on whether or not to have a forum on the pros and cons of increasing commissions from three to five people. Valerie McLeod indicated she has not had the time to formulate a plan for a forum.
Motion: Valerie moved to table a forum on a 3- versus 5-member commission. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Belfair Herald reporter Arla Shephard has been let go due to downsizing. It was suggested that people let the Shelton Journal know Arla did a good job reporting news in North Mason. (Shelton-Mason County Journal, PO Box 430, Shelton WA 98584)
Randy introduced Mark Costa, President and CEO of the North Mason Chamber of Commerce. Mark has been with the Chamber 19 months. They have a membership of 500. Mark offered their conference room to Voice subcommittees to use free of charge.
Mike Pope, Belfair Water District commissioner, introduced their new interim manager, Tom Peadon. Tom assured that the BWD water system, water quality and fire protection is in good operating order. There is a lot of work to be done, but things are stable.
GUEST SPEAKER: Fire District 2 Chief Beau Bakken
FD2 has 8 paramedics and 37 EMTs.
Their equipment is state of the art.
FD2 covers about 100 square miles.
There are 22 career staff and 70 volunteers, with a $3.3 million annual budget.
FD2 is debt-free.
There were nearly 2,000 emergency responses in 2011.
The average response time in North Mason is 6 minutes
There are four volunteer programs: neighborhood, community response teams, resident volunteer program and student cadet program.
A coalition of fire districts took on the responsibility of fire marshal.
There is good and positive networking among all fire districts, Department of Emergency Management, Mason County Sheriffs Office, Belfair Water District, PUD3, North Mason School District and at the state and federal levels.

Two political candidates introduced themselves.
Arvilla Ohlde said there was a new Parks Master Plan survey on-line and asked people to participate. http://www.co.mason.wa.us/parks/index.php.
John Gunter said he would be in Shelton tomorrow to review Belfair sewer financials.
Motion: Lorie Waggett moved to send a card and flowers to Linnie Griffin from the North Mason Community Voice, not to exceed $50. The motion was seconded and passed unanimously.
Reminder: The North Mason Community Voice meets on the 4th Monday of the month. The next meeting is Monday, April 23. The Department of Transportation is scheduled to speak about Belfairs SR 3 road widening.
