Meeting called to order at 7:01 P.M. by Ken VanBuskirk

Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag followed.

Board of Directors present: Ken VanBuskirk, Kaye Massie, Margie Benson, Jim Clark, Ralph Lartz, Jack Kimball and Bruce Jackson.

Absent: Lee Swoboda, Randy Neatherlin, Jacquelyn Mastel and Judy Scott.


The minutes of the June 16, 2008 meeting were read and a motion was made by Jim Clark and second by Kaye Massie to accept the minutes as read. The Motion passes unanimous by voice vote.

Treasurerís Report:

Jim Clark reports we had $103 deposited and a bill of $38.50, which leaves $1203.75 in the checking account.

A Motion was made by Bruce Jackson and second by Kaye Massie to approve the Treasurerís Report as read. The motion passes unanimous by voice vote.


Dave OíConnell, General Manager of the Mason County Transit, gave a great presentation on the Transit System.

He said the fuel costs are up 30% and the riders are also increased. There were 500,000 riders last year.

There are four 40-foot busses going into the Bremerton Ship Yard and many vans. The vans cost each rider $60 a month to ride.

There is a direct connection to the Ferry Dock in Bremerton as well as connections from Shelton to Olympia and beyond.

Dial a Ride has five vans and requires a 24-hour advance notice to get a ride.

They have 45 Vehicles with 50 employees and 23 volunteers.


A Candidates Forum will be held on Tuesday July 29, 2008 at the Lakeland Village Club House, starting at 6:00 P.M.

This event is sponsored by the North Mason Chamber of Commerce with help from North Mason Community Voice.

The County Commissioners will also be at the Theler Center Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at 6:00 P.M.

They will leave at 7:00 P.M. to go to the Lakeland Village Candidates Forum.

The Mason County Fair will be July 25, 26 and 27 and it is the 100-year celebration and there will be free gate admission.

Herb Gerhardt attended a Hood Canal information meeting and said they are requesting more money to study the Canal.

Hospital District #2 is meeting at the North Mason School Board room on Tuesday July 22, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.

The official ground-breaking ceremony for the Hospital Care Center will be August 5, 2008 at the site on Romance Hill at noon. The public is invited.

Jack Kimball attended the Celebrate Hood Canal info meeting and they unveiled a model of the Sewage Treatment Plant for Belfair.

Ray Stutz said there is a Fire District #2 planning meeting from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. on July 28 and 29, 2008.


There will be a parking lot sale at the Theler Center on the last Saturday in August and all donations will be accepted.

A Motion to adjourn was made by Jim Clark and second by Margie Benson. The Motion passes unanimous by voice vote.
