Meeting called to order at 7:06 P.M. by Randy Neatherlin

The pledge of allegiance to the Flag followed.

Board of directors present: Randy Neatherlin, Lee Swoboda, Jack Kimball, Ken VanBuskirk, Margie Benson, Kaye Massie and Bruce Jackson.

Absent: Judy Scott, Jim Clark, Ralph Lartz and Jacquelyn Mastel.

Attendees: 27

Self-introductions followed.


The minutes of the May 19, 2008 meeting were read and a Motion was made by Ken VanBuskirk and second by Lee Swoboda to accept the minutes as read. The Motion passes unanimous by voice vote.

Treasurer's Report:

Jim Clark was absent and Lee Swoboda reported we have $1198 in the Bank.


The elected Board of Directors must decide who will be in each position for the next year.

After a short discussion it was agreed that Lee Swoboda shall be the Chairman, Ken VanBuskirk the Vice Chairman, Jim Clark the Treasurer, Ralph Lartz the PIO (Public Information Officer) and Bruce Jackson the Secretary.

Lee Swoboda took over as Chairman and Randy Neatherlin left for graduation.


A Motion to let Candidates running for public to talk for 3 minutes each was made by Ray Stutz and second by Kaye Massie. A discussion followed and the Question was called for. The motion passes unanimous by voice vote.

Each Candidate gave a 3-minute talk on their experience for office.

Deborah Reis is running for Mason County Commissioner in District #2.

Dan Goodell is running for Superior Court Judge.

Amber Finley is running for Superior Court Judge.

Toni Sheldon is running for re-election as a Superior Court Judge.

Tim Sheldon is running for re-election as a Mason County Commissioner in District #2

Herb Gerhardt is running for PUD 3 Commissioner.


We will help the North Mason Chamber of Commerce with two Candidates Forums.

The first one will be in Allyn on July 29, 2008 with the meet and greet starting at 5:00 P.M.

The second one will be in Belfair on October 14, 2008.

We need a committee to work with the North Mason Chamber to help set up and organize these two events.

There will be 21 candidates to speak in two hours and they will have two questions from the Forum and one or two questions from the audience.

Frank Kenny will be the moderator.


Ken VanBuskirk attended the County Commissioners meeting and asked for a Public Hearing on the Renaissance Faire.

Herb Gerhardt gave a report on Hospital Dist #2 and Fire Dist. #2.

Ray Stutz reported on a Strategic Planning for future needs in Fire Dist. #2.

Margie Benson said there is a Brainstorming Meeting on Fish Habitat at the Tahuya River Valley Community Club on June 18, 2008.

Valerie McLeod spoke on the need for improvements to the Jury Duty system so that it is easier for small business owners to serve on Jury Duty.

A Motion to adjourn was made by Kaye Massie and second by Margie Benson.

The Motion passes unanimous by voice vote.
