Meeting called to order at 7:03 P.M. by Randy Neatherlin.
The pledge of allegiance to the Flag followed.
Board of Directors present: Randy Neatherlin, Jim Clark, Margie Benson, Lee Swoboda, Kay Massie, Ralph Lartz, Brooke Quigley, Jacquelyn Mastel and Bruce Jackson.
Absent: Judy Scott and Bev Wendell.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS ACTION
The minutes of the April 21, 2008 meeting were read and a Motion was made by Ralph Lartz and second by Lee Swoboda to accept the minutes as read. The motion passes unanimous by voice vote.
Treasurer's Report by Jim Clark:
We paid out $600.00 to Joan Moore for catering the Shindig and $238.50 for rent of the Theler Center. This leaves $1139.25 in the bank.
A motion was made by Ralph Lartz and second by Brooke Quigley to accept the Treasurer's report. The motion passes unanimous by voice vote.
Roslynne Reed is a candidate for Mason County Commissioner in District #2 and she gave a good presentation on her background and experience. She was born in Mason County and spent 25 years with the Federal Government. She is the Chair person of the Mason County Democrats.
Dan Mancuso, publisher for the Shelton-Mason County Journal, gave us an update on the new owners' outlook on running a newspaper.
He wants to have a positive outlook on the area news and use good Journalism in reporting events.
Obituaries will have no charge for local people and the listing of Community Events will also be free.
Crime reports from the Sheriff's office will be published and letters to the Editor will be run as long as you have your name and address on them.
Randy Neatherlin apologized to Mel Armstrong for cutting him off in the last monthly meeting.
Tim Sheldon would like us to have a Forum on the Renaissance Faire with Mr. Cleveland and Mr. Sheldon available for questions on this event. We had a lot of discussion on how to represent the different sides in our Forum format. There was no motion to do this Forum.
Expired Board Member terms are: Ralph Lartz, Jacquelyn Mastel and Brooke Quigley.
Housekeeping vacancies are for Bev Wendell and Jim Clark.
Jacquelyn Mastel nominated Ken VanBuskirk for District #3 Board Member.
Jack Kimball was nominated for District #4. Ralph Lartz and Jim Clark agreed to stay on.
A Motion was made by Ralph Lartz and second by Lee Swoboda to approve these members by acclimation. Motion passes unanimous by voice vote and Ken VanBuskirk, Jack Kimball, Jim Clark and Ralph Lartz are members of the board of North Mason Community Voice.
A Motion was made by Lee Swoboda and second by Ralph Lartz to suspend the Bylaws and allow a Board Member at large to be appointed. The Motion passes unanimous by voice vote.
A Motion to install Jacquelyn Mastel to serve as the member at large made by Ralph Lartz and second by Ray Stutz. The motion passes unanimous by voice vote.
The next meeting will have the new Chairman and Vice Chairman appointed by the Board of Directors.
The speaker at next month's meeting will be North Mason School Superintendent David Peterson.
A Motion to adjourn was made by Lee Swoboda and second by Ralph Lartz. The Motion passes unanimous by voice vote.
