BOARD OF DIRECTORS' ACTIONS
Minutes of the March 17, 2008 meeting were read and a motion to accept the minutes as corrected was made by Judy Scott and second by Ralph Lartz. The motion passed unanimous by voice vote.
Jim Clark was absent and he informed Randy Neatherlin we have about $800.00 in the bank account.
The Shindig was a success and great fun. We broke even on the money for the event.
A big Thank You to Linnie Griffin for the great job she did on this event.
We also thanked Judy Scott for the wonderful Blue Grass Band that played at the Shindig.
A big round of applause followed for both people.
Ron Cleveland, of the Washington State Renaissance Fantasy Faire, gave a great speech on the planned move to the Bear Creek-Dewatto road location. They have leased 206 acres in this area and plan to have plenty of parking for the event to be held on the first three weekends in August.
This event will be a positive impact on the local community and will grow into a small village that will be used year round. There will be shops and theatre groups added as this business grows.
Mr. Cleveland said his group plans to buy this land in the near future. They will supply their own security, EMT and Fire service for the site during the event.
As it is now planned, it will take 2 ½ weeks to set all the stages and props for this event and 2 ½ weeks to tear it down after they are done.
A question and answer session followed and many people were concerned about the excess traffic this event will have on this area.
County Commissioner Tim Sheldon announced that a pre confirmation hearing will be held next week in Shelton . He believes it will be very hard to get the property reclassification and all the permits for this event done in time for this year. He stated that the County Fairgrounds are open at this time and maybe this should be scheduled to take place at the Fairgrounds this year.
Mr. Cleveland said does not want to move from this location because he will have a loss in attendance.
A lot of public discussion followed and many people are upset about the increased traffic.
A discussion followed on a change to the By-Laws to allow more people from one area on the Board. Lee Swoboda and Ray Stutz both said there is no need to change and there was no Motion on this change.
Sheriff Salisbury thanked us all for the support they received to get the new office in Shelton and Belfair.
A motion to adjourn was made by Lee Swoboda and second by Margie Benson. The motion passes unanimous by voice vote.
Meeting adjourned at 8:29 P.M.
Submitted by Bruce Jackson. Approved by NMCV Board of Directors 5/19/2008.
